Business Law

Nathaniel Lacy & Partners offer a full service of legal advice in relation to a vast number of business legal matters. We have set out below some of the most common areas of business law that we advise our clients.

Partnerships

Partnership agreements are a must for any clients considering forming a new partnership of any kind. By spending time and money on an agreement at the initial stage, both time and money will ultimately be saved should issues arise in the future. A partnership agreement can include dispute resolution methods, exit provisions, day to day management rules, banking & accounting provisions, expense accounts and reference to the Partnership Acts.

Companies

As with Partnerships, shareholders of a company should have shareholders’ agreements for the same reasons as above. Also Directors need to be aware of their roles and duties and how they could be held accountable for the debts of the Company.

Employment Law

At Nathaniel Lacy & Partners, we advise on all areas of employment law and represent our clients at the various employment law forums including the Employment Appeals Tribunal, before Rights Commissioners and at the Labour Court.

Employers must, within 2ms, ensure that contracts of employment are agreed and signed with their employees. Employment legislation is there to protect employees. The only way employers can protect themselves is by drafting an employment contract to limit their exposure.

Contracts

We have advised and assisted clients in drafting their terms and conditions of trade specific to their business.

Your terms and conditions of trade can protect you in your business. You can limit your liability to your clients/customers and you can control your credit periods and how you get paid, among other things.

Safety Statements

Preparing your Safety Statement can be straight forward and drafting in conjunction with advice from the HSA. We have assisted clients in finalising their safety statement in compliance with the relevant Health & Safety Legislation.

Every business, whether you are a sole trader or employ 100 people, must have a safety statement.

Business Property

It is with caution that new business should sign up to lengthy lease agreements. Leasees should look for break clauses. The planning permission on the property should be considered carefully.
