Nathaniel Lacy & Partners realises the utmost importance of advising
clients of the proposed level of fees to be charged both initially and
as a case/transaction progresses. Therefore either at the initial
consultation or as soon as possible thereafter clients will be advised,
in writing, as to the level of fees that will be charged or if this is
not possible, as is often the case, how the fee will be
charged/calculated.
Broadly speaking our fees are generally, but not exclusively, calculated
by reference to:-
(a) The time spent on the matter in question;
(b) The seniority of the individual(s) carrying out the work, and
(c) The nature of the work concerned.
We will discuss with you, our client, the rate per hour at which the
solicitor dealing with your case will charge for the work being done for
you.
In addition to the professional fee, there may be items of outlay such
as telephone calls, faxes, copying, couriers or taxis, court fees,
counsel, stenographer and expert witness fees, stamp duty, medical and
engineer's reports, if required.
It will also be the client's responsibility to pay any VAT where it
arises and it will therefore be included in your bill of costs. VAT is
currently calculated at 21.5%.
There is also an information leaflet on costs published by the Law
Society of Ireland and can be viewed on their website.
