Johanna started her training as a solicitor with Matheson Ormsby
Prentice Solicitors in Dublin and on qualifying in 1999 moved to BCM
Hanby Wallace working in the Commercial Law Department which had only
just been established at that time. She gained intense commercial law
experience working for big corporations involved in inward investments,
mergers and acquisitions among other legal issues. She then moved to
Nathaniel Lacy & Partners in Kells working predominantly in Defence
Litigation acting for Insurance Companies before moving down to
Tipperary, in 2004, with her husband, Alan Downey, who hails from
Ballyneale, Carrick-on-Suir. She has spent the last 5 years working in
Clonmel/Cashel practising mainly in conveyancing/property law and
private client litigation. She now lives in Rosegreen, Cashel with her
husband and 4 children.
In May, she opened the Cashel Branch of Nathaniel Lacy & Partners and offers to her clients personal legal advice with the advantage of also being able to consult with the solicitors in the Kells Branch. Her clients have the benefit of both her and Nathaniel having worked in two of the big 5 legal firms in Dublin and the experience they gained from there, yet not charging the high rates that are typically charged by those firms. This is legal service of the highest quality and is value for money. Johanna practises in almost all areas of law including personal injury litigation, property law (both residential and commercial), debt collection, business/company law, employment law, wills and administration of estates and most court work.
Johanna also has a diploma in Accounting & Finance from the ACCA, a
certificate in Commercial Conveyancing and is currently studying for a
certificate in Civil Litigation. She lectures for the Enterprise Board
in the South East on their "Start Your Own Business" & "Progress your
