Expertise
Insurance disputes, claims & advisory.
Nathaniel Lacy LLP advises insurers, claims managers and businesses across the full life cycle of disputed, complex and high-value claims. Our work spans litigation, early-stage strategy, indemnity issues, recovery, dispute resolution and pre-litigation advice.
Our Services.
Our work is organised around six connected areas of expertise. Each can arise independently, but many matters involve overlap between liability, indemnity, evidence, recovery, settlement strategy and litigation.
Insurance Litigation
Nathaniel Lacy LLP acts in defended insurance disputes across the High Court and Circuit Court. We advise on liability, evidence, pleadings, procedure, settlement strategy and trial preparation, supporting insurers and claims managers from the early stages of a dispute through to hearing where required.
Mediation & Arbitration
Nathaniel Lacy LLP advises and represents clients in mediation and arbitration where a negotiated or private dispute-resolution process may provide an appropriate alternative to court proceedings. We help clients assess the process, prepare their position, manage evidence and negotiations, and work towards a practical resolution where possible.
Recovery
We advise on recovery opportunities arising after payment, settlement or review of a claim. This can include subrogated recovery, contribution, reimbursement, overpayments, duplicate payments and other repayment issues, with advice focused on whether recovery is legally available, commercially worthwhile and practically enforceable.
Complex Claims
We advise on claims where liability, causation, quantum, coverage, evidence and strategy require more detailed consideration from the outset. Our role is to help clients assess risk, coordinate the necessary input, identify the key issues and establish a clear approach to progressing difficult or high-value matters.
Indemnity Advisory
We advise insurers and claims managers on policy response, indemnity obligations, coverage disputes and related claims issues. This includes reviewing policy wording, factual circumstances, notification requirements, exclusions, reservation-of-rights issues and the legal implications of key claims-handling decisions.
Pre-Litigation
We advise before proceedings are issued, where early legal input can help clients assess exposure, preserve evidence, clarify the legal position and determine the most appropriate next step. This may involve correspondence, liability assessment, document review, early negotiations or strategy for avoiding, narrowing or preparing for a formal dispute.
A considered approach to claims and disputes.
Many insurance matters do not fit neatly within a single category. A claim may begin with an indemnity question, develop into a complex evidence issue, require mediation or settlement discussions, and ultimately proceed to litigation or recovery.
Nathaniel Lacy LLP works with clients at the stage where legal input will have the greatest practical value — whether that means advising before a formal dispute develops, supporting an existing claims process, or taking over conduct of a matter where proceedings or a hearing are anticipated.
